SURGICAL TECHNIQUE OF THE PHAKIC POSTERIOR CHAMBER LENS

T.H. Neuhann

Since more than 30 years phakic lenses are implanted for correcting spherical refractive errors.

1986 Fjodorov developed a new lens for the posterior chamber. With the third generation of this lens, which has a new lens material and design, we are able to inject this implants to a less than 3 mm limbal temporal incision into myopic and hyperopic eyes. An iridectomy which is mandatory in these cases, can also be obtained during surgery with a new vitrector technique without an additional incision.

Postoperative results with ultrasound (Humphrey Bio-Microscope) as well as slit-lamp examination and clinical follow up for more than 3 years show very acceptable results.
