EXPRESSION OF HLA-A, B, C AND G RNA IN OCULAR TISSUES
P.Y. Robert1,2, C. Lasalmonie1, M. Cogne1, J.P. Adenis2, C. Hartmann3, M. Drouet 1Purpose: Evaluation of the presence in adult eye of HLA-A, -B, -C and HLA-G transcripts.
Methods: RNA isolation and specific RT-PCR was performed from frozen ocular tissues, harvested from 4 cadavers. and from first trimester trophoblast and JEG3 cell line. Specificity was assessed by hybridization and sequencing.
Results: HLA-A, -B, -C transcripts ivere found in all tissues. HLA-G transcripts were found in trophoblast and JEG 3, by not in ocular tissues.
Discussion: Classical HLA class I expression is confirmed in the eye. The absence of HLA-G subsides its interest as an histocompatibility antigen or an actor of the immune privilege of the eye.
